Peter Comley Safaris

To invite Peter Comley to design or lead your safari to Africa is to add an abundance of experience, information and enjoyment to your trip. He will design a safari to suit your interests and budget and, should you choose to have him lead your dream journey, provide a continuity of insight into the workings of nature that you don’t get if you find yourself with a new guide every few days as you move from one lodge to another.

Unconventional Safari Company

Famed for his original and decidely unconventional expeditions Peter Comley has pioneered many unique trips which have included hunting traditionally on foot with isolated Kalahari Bushmen, exploring vast desert regions without encountering a single vehicle track for days on end, searching for the last members of nearly extinct tribes and studying on the dominance behaviour of springbok in the sparse shade of Nxai Pan thorn trees. He also led the first commercial mokoro journey across the length of the Okavango and, in doing so, became the first white man to pole the Okavango from top to botom according to the elder polers. The first canoe safari in the Okavango was pioneered by Peter and he has conducted species specific bird,  mammal and tree safaris as well as hitting the tiger fish during the famed barbel run in the upper Okavango. A recent, and hugely successful safari focussed on those animals which only come out after dark. It involved a good deal of night driving with specialised equipment but proved to be hugely rewarding.

If you have an idea for an unusual safari, contact Peter to see if he can add his experience to your dream.

Chobe Forest Camp

You will find it hard to believe that you are a mere twenty-minute drive from Kasane and the Chobe River when you sit on your balcony in your luxury self-catering tent or watch from your campsite as hundreds of elephants come down to the waterhole to drink in the winter months. You could, of course, choose to witness this spectacle from the ease of the comfortably appointed hide which offers spectacular photographic opportunities. Elephants aren’t the only common species to drink at the waterhole. Eland, roan, sable, giraffe kudu and buffalo are regular day time visitors while lions, leopards, hyaenas and jackals can frequently be heard close at hand during the night.

If you need to cool down in the warmer months our sparkling swimming pool is always welcoming and there is complimentary wi-fi for those who need to be in touch with the outside world.

We are wild as you can get while being close enough to do day trips to Victoria Falls, boat cruises on the Chobe and game drives in the Chobe National Park.
